In LPS-activated RAW 264.7 macrophages, Turmimax® BIO significantly reduced IL-8 and IL-12 expression, bringing them close to untreated levels. In preclinical osteoarthritis models it reduced iNOS, COX-2 and 5-LOX plus IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in joint tissue. Clinically, IL-6, Leukotriene B4, hs-CRP and ESR improved over the 84-day study vs placebo.
In an osteoarthritis model, Turmimax® BIO reduced expression of MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9 and MMP-13 in synovial tissue while preserving COL2A1 and aggrecan. Dose-dependent reductions in knee swelling and cartilage erosion were observed. Clinically, MMP-3 fell over the 84-day study period while it increased in the placebo group.
