Frequently asked questions
Common technical, scientific and commercial questions about Turmimax® BIO - Star Hi Herbs' clinically researched, water-dispersible turmeric ingredient for joint comfort, mobility and active-lifestyle formulations.
Product
What is Turmimax® BIO?+
A proprietary phytochemical composition derived from turmeric rhizome (Curcuma longa). It delivers upto 95% curcuminoids in a fully water-dispersible format, researched for joint comfort, mobility, cartilage support and healthy inflammatory balance.
What is Turmimax® BIO standardised to?+
Upto 95% total curcuminoids. The final analytical method appears on the current approved product specification and certificate of analysis.
How is Turmimax® BIO different from generic curcumin extract?+
Generic curcumin extracts have very low water dispersibility and limited oral absorption. Turmimax® BIO combines high curcuminoid purity with rapid water dispersion, prolonged dispersion stability, up to 35× higher bioavailability than standard curcumin, clinical research and patent protection.
Is Turmimax® BIO water soluble?+
It is described in the research materials as 100% water dispersible - it distributes effectively in water-based systems. It should not be described as completely water soluble unless supported by the approved technical specification.
What are the principal bioactives?+
Turmimax® BIO is standardised to total curcuminoids: curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Individual assay values should be taken from the current specification or batch COA.
Is Turmimax® BIO patented?+
Yes. India Patent No. 404286 is granted. US Application 16/995,834, PCT/IB2021/050750 and EP 21186828.6 are also on file.
Dosage & clinical evidence
What is the clinically studied dose?+
The 2025 clinical presentation identifies a dose of 200 mg daily for 84 days. Final recommended use level must be confirmed against the signed clinical study protocol before publication.
How long does it take to work?+
In the 84-day study, improvements in total WOMAC score were already observed at Day 42 and continued through Day 84. Results can vary by formulation, serving level, consumer profile and consistency of use.
What benefits are supported by human research?+
Improvements in WOMAC (pain, stiffness, difficulty), VAS scores and inflammatory/cartilage biomarkers including IL-6, Leukotriene B4, MMP-3, ESR and hs-CRP.
How many people participated in the clinical study?+
100 adults with mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis, in a 12-week prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design.
Does it support cartilage health?+
Preclinical osteoarthritis models found reductions in knee swelling and cartilage degradation and support for COL2A1, aggrecan and matrix markers with reduced MMP expression.
Is it more bioavailable than standard curcumin?+
The supplied research reports Turmimax® BIO at approximately 35× the bioavailability of standard curcumin, with rapid and sustained dispersion.
Safety & regulatory
Is Turmimax® BIO safe?+
Reported as well tolerated during the 84-day human study with no serious adverse events. Acute animal toxicology reported no deaths or acute toxic symptoms at 2,000 mg/kg body weight.
Are there any side effects?+
No serious adverse events were reported in the supplied clinical study. Individual responses may vary; finished-product labels should advise consumers who are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a condition to consult a healthcare professional.
Is it approved in the US, EU or India?+
Regulatory suitability depends on ingredient classification, intended use, dosage, claim wording and product category. Local regulatory assessment is required per market.
Formulation
Can it be used in beverages or drink powders?+
Yes - the water-dispersible format is suited to evaluation in beverages, functional shots, drink powders and sachets. Finished-product testing should verify dispersion, flavour, colour, sedimentation, pH compatibility and stability.
Can it be formulated into capsules, tablets or gummies?+
Yes. Processing temperature, moisture exposure, excipient compatibility and finished-product stability should be validated per application.
Is it heat stable?+
A verified maximum processing temperature is not included in the supplied attachments. Heat stability should be confirmed via application testing or a current technical stability document.
What use level should formulators use?+
The finished product should provide the confirmed clinically studied daily amount (200 mg per the 2025 report; final level to be confirmed by scientific and regulatory teams before launch).
What ingredients can it be combined with?+
It may be used standalone or combined in joint-comfort, mobility, sports-recovery and active-ageing stacks. Compatibility and claim substantiation should be evaluated for the complete formula.
